JavaScript protect your images

Print

JavaScript protecting your images prevents users from right-clicking an image and saving the web preview size to their hard drive.

  • Once logged in as account administrator, navigate to 'Albums & Images' > 'Albums/Images'.
  • Select the album of your interest and click the 'e' icon to edit the album.
  • Check the option 'JavaScript protect images in this album'.
  • Click 'Save Changes'.

This option can be set also globally under ‘Global Preferences’.

  • Navigate to Admin Home > ‘Gallery Preferences’ > ‘Global Preferences.’
  • Click on the Images tab.
  • Check the option to JavaScript protect images.
  • Click ‘Save Changes’.

NOTE: Global Preferences are set as default values that will be used when new albums and images are added.  If you would like to change the preferences for previously created albums, you have to set this on individual album level by editing the album.

Set a custom watermark image

Print
  • You must first create a png version of your watermark using software such as Photoshop.  For tips with this, see the 'Tips for creating your watermark' section below.
  • Once logged in as account administrator, navigate to 'Gallery Preferences' > 'Set watermark'.
  • Select the option 'Upload Image Watermark.'
  • Click 'browse' to select the image from your hard drive to upload.
  • Click 'upload' to upload the image and preview the example on right.
  • Click on a quadrant in the grid to specify the location for the watermark and the example image will automatically update.
  • Once satisfied with the example image of your watermark and its position, click 'Save'.

NOTE: You must re-watermark any images that were previously uploaded into your database in order for the new settings to take effect.  To re-watermark your images, please see the ‘Re-watermark.'

To turn automatic watermarking on, do the following:

  • Under 'Edit Album' for an existing album or 'New Album' when creating an album, check mark the option 'Watermark images in this album' (for newly created albums, this option is available under ‘Advanced Options’) and click 'Save'. Your images in this album will now be automatically watermarked upon upload.
To set this option globally, please do the following:

  • Check mark the option 'Watermark images' and click 'Save all preferences' to save your changes.

Please note:  These changes will only impact future uploads.  To watermark previously uploaded images, please see the instructions for re-watermarking images.

Tips for creating a watermark

Print
  • It is recommended that you use software such as Photoshop to create your watermark and save the file in png format.
  • It is recommended that your watermark is partially transparent (by setting opacity) so it does not distract from your images.
  • To create a logo or name watermark, it is recommended that your watermark be no larger than 450px in either direction.
  • To create a watermark to tile across the whole image, it is recommended that your watermark be at least 550px x 550px to cover the entire image.
