Thanks to your feedback, the new Asset Preview Page is here! Our user interface engineers have spent countless hours redesigning the WebDAM asset preview to ensure flawless usability. The new layout features a nifty options box with easy-to-recognize icons for faster access to your favorite WebDAM features such as: Slideshow, Lightbox, Email Sharing and more. DAM & CMS acronyms can get overwhelming, so we’ve created a list of the most popular ones.

CM Content Management
A system used for organizing, managing and editing digital content.

WCM Web Content Management
A sub-set of CMS used more specifically as a web application for the managing, editing and storing of HTML content.

ECM Enterprise Content Management
Content management within an enterprise which provides the necessary tools, methods, skills and strategies needed to manage, store and edit the company’s digital content.

MAM Multimedia Asset Management
A sub-set of digital asset management, which more specifically entails DAM with multimedia content. (more…)

Metadata Demystified

You may have heard the term “metadata” thrown around quite a bit in regards to, well, pretty much anything in the digital world. Metadata is used to describe data. For instance, a book’s metadata may include the author, publisher, or copyright notice. Similarly, images have metadata to aid in searching, tracking and retrieving.

Photo metadata can be a bit convoluted and overwhelming at first glance, especially since different standards exist for storing it. (more…)

Digital asset management (DAM) provides an efficient means for centralizing, tracking, managing, locating, and sharing digital content within your organization. DAM is a broad term that covers a full spectrum of technology solutions from personal software for managing music files such as MP3s to enterprise server solutions for managing heterogeneous files types within a company. However, most DAM solutions include the following core capabilities:

Storage – How your assets are ingested, stored, and backed-up.
