Scalability in the Cloud

It’s probably not surprising that I wind up in many discussions with marketing professionals looking to implement digital asset management systems. However, I’m always surprised when I get asked, “Is it scalable?” This is one of the most common questions I get, and — coming from a technical background — my instinct is to think they’re referring to system architecture. Further discussion usually reveals the question to really be about system capabilities. Or, in layman’s terms, can a system like WebDAM be quickly scaled, going from five user seats today to 1,000 tomorrow, for example. (more…)

And you think Digital Asset Management isn’t fun?

Monday, October 18th, 2010

The WebDAM team hit the streets of San Francisco last week for DMA 2010 – a marketing conference that drew over 10,000 marketing professionals to our fabulous city! In our unmistakable bright orange t-shirts, we handed out over a thousand eco-friendly bags to conference goers and passer byers. Our unofficial mascot, Brutus the Beaver, didn’t miss a beat with the hugs, high fives, and photo opps, despite the unseasonable 80 degree heat! We had a blast spreading the word and bringing the humor to digital asset management!

The True Cost of (Reliable) Storage

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

Without data, business comes to a standstill. No reports, no communication, no records – and thus, no revenue. That places a big spotlight on the importance of data storage, and today’s organizations have options for data storage, ranging from in-house hard drives and servers to a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution. SaaS providers build their business around accessibility and reliability. Not only are you eliminating hardware expenses and logistical costs from your budget, you’re also getting a commitment from a business designed to maximize availability and redundancy to keep data safe. (more…)

Digital Asset Management Software: To Build or To Buy

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Within the digital asset management (DAM) community, return on investment, or ROI, is a hot topic. Businesses know they need a DAM, but clearly showing ROI to upper management isn’t always straightforward. Consultants and analysts have deconstructed the debate over and over. At WebDAM, we often hear a slightly different perspective – not so much a debate on ROI, but rather a case of paying an outside vendor for a solution (“buy”) vs. internally developing and maintaining a solution (“build”). DAM is becoming business-critical thanks to the exponential increase in digital media and most companies recognize the need to invest in it. (more…)
